Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" LITTLE UMBRELLAS
LIKE COCKTAIL PARASOLS
we
were protected /from a feral world
where
the young were seen /as meat for the old
Rose
we/to be/elderly..now we,see ..how little umbrellas fall
in
these wild winds of changed whirlwinds.Climate change
means
Budget breakdowns/Congress shutdowns
brinkmanship
and bearbaiting.It would be funny
if
we were not affected.Food aid stopped.Benefits blocked
Ball
dropped-on our feet.No longer can we
trust
elder wisdom.They abdicated into bickering.
One
tiny world.Like an ants nest.Blessed if our children
will
trust /that we will protect their best interests
