Rob Ayling writes: "Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" FULL ENGLISH CAFE SATURDAY SOLSTICE
the
poetry conversation is sharp and pertinent
as
the night claims each artist ,he rises up
prepares
to perform John Berryman.
Alcoholic,suicide
artist,who jumped from a bridge
Witnesses
say he smiled and waved!
He
chose 3 songs of the departed John
Each
one with a flavor of truth and desire
that
flame of life that warms winters ice fires
Asked
how he could memorize at will,he replied-
"i
have been acting on stage since the age of nine!
yet i find poetry
gives me peace of mind"
Winter
Solstice-we all had places to be
He
and John Berryman's ghost words still haunt me
