Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" GREAT WAR 2014
MY GRANDFATHER WAS AN ARMY COOK IN CAIRO
He
sent us mortar shell casings-ornamental on our shelves
He
and his whole generation long buried .Gone,forgotten
Great
mistakes made.Gas attacks.Cavalry against tanks.
Whole
navies sank .Too many young cannon fodder-
fighting
in the tactics of the Last War.A century later
all
is black and white(newsreels)/poor photography.
We still suffer
gas attacks.Still war when wanted.
Time
has simply mutated modes of mass killing
to
terrorist bomb attacks and random massacres.
Knowledge
does not change us.Wars waste us.
It
was never "Great".Millions of white crosses.Silenced.
