THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded.

It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

Why not indeed!!"

THERE IS NO WELL (BUT THERE IS WATER)
TALES OF TEXAS FLOOD & DROUGHT & FRACKING
Resurrect Stevie Ray Vaughn.Blues riffs
over Katrina 's impossible demands
still linger on Bourbon Street Bars.
Black culture honors beat and speech and song as art
Inflection as reflection. Each person as a diary.
Memoirs later, you are one page in a wind of leaves.
Music you grew to now "retro"or "nostalgia"/'Golden Oldies"
You hesitate to ask for the Senior Discount.Thin-haired and slow turtle
your time spent with others of age and elders. How could this be?
Technology has claimed your children.Their time is now.
You are stories you tell while they text.(others)
Rely upon forgetting.Salutary medicine for hard times
But these are different times.Grandfather Depression,Father Second World War
You Vietnam, your children Iraq,Afghanistan.Who do we die for next?

PTSD wants to know!
