THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded.

It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

Why not indeed!!"

I HAVE A FRIEND
HE HAS A JOB
Dealing with disgruntled customers
whose cars have been recalled
due to any dangerous defect
finally admitted by the manufacturer
DONOGHUE vs STEVENSON (snail in the Scottish ginger beer bottle)
established long ago torts of negligence
so necessary now in days of mass production (and lax standards)
Folk are angry when airbags do not deploy
They get angry at him when he will not allow their claims
for redress(financial)or recall or replacing with new automobiles.
My friend is on the front line of the future
where adroit negotiations are required
to forestall anger,violence,reaction.He is pre-legal.
He is successful, calming folk who are fulminating
as they cite Ralph Nader('UNSAFE @ANY SPEED)and demand action.
He is pro-active,suggesting alternative modes and possibilities of resolution
I see him as that person raking leaves in autumn(he will always find employment)
Even when his bosses tumble and fall with false economies
Even when the world is awash with defective and dangerous cars
Some people are born into the future. Some people learn from their pasts..

from other people's mistakes...
