THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded.

It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

Why not indeed!!"

ANGELA DE IMMINENTE MORTE
There is a part in "BOOM!"
Joseph Losey's meditation /riff on Tennessee William's
"The Milk Train Does Not Stop Here Anymore"
where Richard Burton makes love to Elizabeth Taylor
knowing she is both rich and dying-and she, intuiting
his presence as the ANGEL OF DEATH,both loves and hates his presence
Sparks fly-milder than "WHO'SE AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF?"
more than THE SANDPIPER and TAMING OF THE SHREW
where the subtext and context of their CLEOPATRA love
outweighed and overshadowed the (inadequate)movie.
Is this not life?-where each daily script (if planned)
falls to "the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune?"
WHEN I STEP OUTSIDE MY DOOR/AS I LAY DYING,

ONCE UPON A TIME-literature (again and always)-fails life..
