THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded.

It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

MUSICAL BIRD BARDS
THIS NIGHTINGALE?WE CALL HER MARY
This mourning dove?Rumi!
This hawk?Kabir!This pigeon?Sandburg
These sparrows?Lalla &Mirabai
Owl?Rilke!Peacock?Tagore!Bluejay?Blake!
The singing tree?It has no name
since on every branch-a different song erupts in flame!
Trunk carries the bones of singing birds
Leaves carry their bright songs to earth
From birth each songbird holds a message
Like wind in the hair of each tree-caresses in wind melodies
It is the Conference of the Birds unites us!
Each one a flag of different origins and destinations
eagle,hawk,pigeon,sparrow-love,devotion,pain,sorrow
each tone a bell in the heart for us
every good song deserves chorus
sing with us!

So very beautiful – the poetry and philosophy of Rilke, Rumi, Mary Oliver, and Tagore, set to song
A beautiful musical homage to the eternal dance of life and death.
