THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

LISTENING TO THE LIVING
WE GATHER TO HEAR THE COMFORT THAT COMES
when a human voice finds a human ear /to share
what few words can carry .Shell of pain transferred
Orchestra of daily bumps and grinds, skins and scars.
Collision course of meteors and asteroids(and we fixed in our orbits
can only pray in Fate and Science to predict before conclusions..
To hear Orson Welles,Vincent Price,Churchill reassure us in resonant resolute radios
taking a load from our private pain.We swim on,knowing braver souls
rise up against Tsunami events, and continue surfing afterwards.
Word is a shallow skiff,a canoe,a coracle for one (alone, adrift)
Also ocean liner (many, not knowing /icebergs or enemies sinking us)
And Dunkirk variety of pot-pourri tin fleets-little bubbles of rings to sing us safe.
We need all of all of us.Rowing, pedaling, swimming, moving, surfing our times

so we may emerge tomorrow after dark nights have claimed their toll...ALIVE!
