THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! BEING AWAKE PUTS ME TO SLEEP

Insomnia fuels my creativity

I live by Light-both sun and moon flight

I tried multi-modal multi-tasking

but it failed to impress

One cannot drive and sleep!

Sleep deprivation is a torture

like solitary confinement

We need rest and dreams to spring forth clean

into a new dream.Otherwise our dreams are old and stale as bread

And we need new food for thought ,or our head

will simply repeat.Simply repeat what has been said

You can get by on a few hours of sleep

But MORE is what you really need!!
