"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! BIRD&THE BLING

Bird is a jazz of air-especially wilde!

Bird flips birds at gold cage cousins

trapped in a house not a home

Bird is not blue(though it sings blues well

Bird is not green(it has rarely seen contract lettuce

Bird is a rainbow lorikeet of early mornings

Golden crested warbler afternoons

Owl moon evenings.Tell time by the bird!

The seller of God Cages has nailed their wings

stuffed them like deer taxidermy.Air comes @night

to animate and liberate-that is why we sing to gold children-

to remind them of spirituals  and winged freedoms
