THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?

PUBLIC PERFORMANCE POETRY June 2017
FOR THOSE WHO FELT THAT SPEECH WAS DEAD
Consider Tony Walsh(Mancunian)whose public performance
of a poem he had  written for previous attacks on Manchester
rallied  the best and brightest of those in his community
who had tended the wounded, cared for the  broken
and exhibited such humanity worthy of epic poetry.
Now "I have no words"Ariana Grande will return to Manchester
with a benefit concert for the survivors-and Tony's poem
will be amplified via BBC and world media.Every village need a poet.
Manchester has many-but the poignant and necessary healing
chose Tony Walsh to articulate antidotes to grief and horror.
Calls for strength, courage ,co-operation,community and commitment
still ring in the ears of all who need to hear-from Manchester and beyond.
There is another role for public poetry-it is for healing
THANK YOU,TONY WALSH.Thank you,Manchester..
So, er, yeah. Blimey.
Such a gracious invitation from a superstar and her team to a tiny, independent artist - to perform my poem This Is The Place at the huge rememberance concert that Ariana Grande has arranged in Manchester this Sunday. 50,000 in the stadium, live on BBC tv and radio and around the world. Global news coverage to follow too, I imagine.
Ariana Grande, Justin Bieber, Coldplay, Katy Perry, Take That, Tony Walsh, Black Eyed Peas, Usher, Pharell, etc etc.
