THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?

"CRAZY CHURCH"
Sunday.Spoken n Heard.Kick Butt.Pisces Full Moon.Tom from Guatemala
plays harp and poem/runs a jazz poetry cafe back home
and edits a sloppy poetry magazine"A Literary Mess"(in his own words..
When we begin the initial free-for -all Invocation of Co-Operation,
inviting the whole audience on stage to do exactly what they will,he joins in.
Passionately plays his harp among the sounds of howls and lines of greeting flung like meat to tourist sharks.
We almost outnumber the"audience".We warn them the night belongs to them.
That this taste is addictive, and they will be allowed (like Palestinians)to return.
He smiles and "gets"it.He calls this CRAZY CHURCH!-a secular jamboree..
A "Come All Ye" with no entry requirements-apart from a desire to connect and communicate..
A natural flow of energy dictates beginning ,middle and end of this mini-drama opening
He invites us to his Cafe in Guatemala, and we fantasize visiting.Right now,
we are welcoming ourselves to ourselves.Secular Sunday Church has begun-
and you do not have to believe a single thing...
(Note especially Dorothy Parker’s response to Pius IX’s Casti Connubii encyclical.  The girl’s sharp wit is surely enshrined in the Vatican’s archives.)
