THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?

YOU MAY NOT PLACE A COMMON PIGEON IN A CAGE

(Unless it was a messenger pigeon,or could race

or had some magical qualities that demanded special treatment

A dove is treasured-for its peaceful mo(u)rning songs

So it is often caged(or shot in hunting season)and eaten

Its very tiny heart a treasured item.Cages are valuable,too-

you pay in time for enforced closures-for Walls and Jails and Zoos

And the very nature of caged animals becomes different to the wild,feral,free denizens of skies..

In fact,some lose their very wings.We do not know why
