It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! WE HAVE NOT BEEN LEARNING
Blood on the branches of the world
tree
Blood on the leaves.Blood
on the ground.
And if we do not look/then
we will not see
The shooting of blacks has
a long history
The hangings and
lynchings/torture and rape
Still in the
landscape.Ancestral memories
Residual stories.Passed
down like an artifact.
Bodies buried/but minds
intact.Remind us
We are on stolen
earth/Columbus/explorers
Land and peoples here long
before us
After us,trees will grow
again.
As will indigenous
women,children,men.
