THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?

DIG IT

DIG DEEPER!

SEAMUS HEANEY DIGS IT

The Diggers dug it

My father dug graves

(a useful digging)

And i dig word music

The way it sways like waves away

Takes us to spaces high and starry nights

You say Earth is here to stay

I play with everything in touch/much

is left to your imagination.I was a bartender in Quilpie

Opal miners would come in, pay for their beer with opal scratches

Glints of colors thin as anorexics/still enough for liquidity

Sometimes, it is not the depth of your search

More the willingness of the hunted to surrender

that allows one to avoid digging deeper

Just linger longer —waiting for Icarus to fall

Deeper..
