THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" (The wondrous poetpic is by Jack McCabe, who I hope forgives me for scribbling all over it with Photoshop)

RETURNING TO ORIGINS

there is a song you remember from childhood or before-
it sings you when you are disconnected/disconnecting
it affirms where you came from and where you are
as well as where you may be heading. It is specific to each of us-
for some-Gaelic/Celtic roots haunt dreamsinging evenings
others, native France Edith Piaf's "Little sparrow"
Some are of indigenous origins/know seasons in their skin
aware of sacredness and connectedness of all living beings
May have or seek totems through visionquests
return to sweat lodge and pipe ceremonies
Sacred this search. Each one faces all directions
What you do now will find your future
Go to cleansing sweat or smoke of shared pipe
What is most sacred is the search-to find who you are
from where you have been-and which direction
will find your future ..ready..waiting
returning you to origins..
