THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" (The wondrous poetpic is by Jack McCabe, who I hope forgives me for scribbling all over it with Photoshop)

"THEY WOULD NOT ASK FOR MORE THAN FREEDOM"
"THE CHILDREN ARE THE HEROES"-yet he was part
of that life-saving 1948 Berlin Airlift, when, defying land and water blockades
American planes dropped tons of food, coal ,medicines into West Berlin.
"Far better to feed than to kill them"-says the Candy Bomber
who dropped chocolate bars on parachutes to hungry children.
They did not starve.70 died in the feeding process
Direct action of "Food, not Bombs"remains example to this day
You see,the "Candy Bomber"lives-his story recalled
by Anyah Dishon, who evokes her own Peace Wave this Friday 13th in Pease Park-
offering salves of poetry, music, art to soothe the savage beast of New Austin

Example Is Everything!O!-and Participation!
