‘We start work in June, I think’: Ex-Yes frontman Jon Anderson’s new band could include Jean-Luc Ponty


Some 10 years after splitting with Yes, Jon Anderson has started talking about forming another band again — and, as he revealed during an autograph session with fans, the lineup could include a certified prog-rock and jazz-fusion legend.
“You’re the first people to know,” Anderson said after a recent solo show, “but I’m going to get a band together with Jean-Luc Ponty.”
The violinist is perhaps best known in rock circles for his early-1970s work with Frank Zappa. Ponty also collaborated with Elton John on 1972′s Honky Chateau, and toured with Journey’s Steve Smith and Genesis’ Daryl Steurmer. Ponty has also released a series of well-received fusion-focused solo albums, while sitting in with Mahavishnu Orchestra and with Return to Forever, as well.
