THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

SONG OF THE LIVING
SONGLINES REMAIN IN OUR SKIN OF DREAMS
even when the strings of life are cut via Fates
as unpredictable as Age/and subsequent deterioration
Remember them as you were and they were-
young enough to tilt@wildmills/and foolish fond enough
to be tilted back out of their skin.It is not the leaving, nor our loss
that is consequential-it is the foundation of harmonies
we build our lives upon-each bass line, every lovely lyric
that saves our daily domestic doings from dull prose
and transports us to Parnassus, where the Muse
has a million tongues of burning flame
and scorches us with fiery truths..
Keep The Fires Burning In Your Arts!

Bruce Langhorne, former Dylan sideman, far left, passed away this week. Also in this photo is Waco folksinger Carolyn Hester, Booby Z and Spike Lee's father Bill Lee, who played bass on Highway 61 Revisited.
