"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?

Austin is littered with ex-poetry venues-ghosts like the ELECTRIC LOUNGE and EGOS

RUTA MAYA and QUACKENBUSH,MOJOS DAILY GRIND,FLIPNOTICS

HIGH TIMES TEA BAR&BRAIN GYM,RAD RADAM,FORRAYS,CHICAGO HOUSE,CAFE CAFFEINE,AUSTIN JAVA,HEADHUNTERS

Current venues that no longer welcome open mics-HIDEOUT,SPIDER HOUSE,etc etc

Now high rents have forced a new category of exiles-venues that welcomed poets

but had to close because they could no longer afford to open @all!

HILLS CAFE was our "new venue"-SHUT DOWN....Next=THREADGILLS SOUTH (AIPF)-ditto.Maybe FULL ENGLISH CAFE

Soon La Dolce Vita will shut their doors.The ghost of Albert Huffstickler walks..You cannot pay high rents

with coffee or with chicken friend steak..and ,as for poetry..

how has THAT ever paid the bills?
