...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.

THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?

STEELY DAN SOLO
TO HIT THE RIGHT NOTES
Every musician was hired,and tried
They were given no instructions-
just"play the blues".Many dollars
in recording time were spent in erasing tracks,
which did not meet their standards .Nothing wrong
with each and every-just that the Budget dictated
a freedom to spend widely.Jazz knows the syncopated magic
cannot be manufactured.Steely Dan drained the swamp of talented players
and made music that stood the test of "Reeling in the Years".Play them now
and they sound as fresh and jaded as Zen.To get those diamonds,
one has to put pressure on a lot of coal face digging.

PLAYLIST: F 229 – 8 OCT 2017?

Strange Fruit is a unique two-hour radio show exploring the world of underground, strange and generally neglected music. All shows are themed and all shows set out to give the most hardened of sound-hounds some new delight to sample.

The show is also unique in providing homework for undergraduate students on North West Kent College’s Foundation Degree in Professional Writing (who dig up many of the odd facts featured in the links between tracks).

Neil Nixon, the founder and presenter of the show has released a book about rare albums for Gonzo Multimedia.

The show is broadcast on Miskin Radio every Sunday from 10-00-midnight.

MAGDALENA IS CRYING
HER FAMILY IS IN MEXICO CITY
And she still has not heard from them
Houston  still waterlogged ,Caribbean stripped
Puerto Rico shaken. But she is crying for her family..
Recently, poets were part of the welcome for Harvey refugees
Little Austin sent huge love to those displaced by hurricanes
but this is personal.Like every Vietnam Veteran reliving wars
and still trying to recreate a Summer of Love.Like every homeless person
under the bridges and on our streets, only asking that we see them.
Every living artist accused of Graffiti.Every civilian begging for activism-
to change our emotional weather to BETTER,and to share our lives
with those who add to the stone soup that we both make and drink.
So we hug and we cuddle ,affirm and assure Magdalena
And,for a moment, the weather seems clearer than teardrops.

IN THE STEPS OF
TONIGHT I DID NOT WATCH "MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR"
I watched "MEMORIES OF THE MAKING OF MMT"
when the 1967 Beatles were reeling from the death of Brian Epstein
and Paul McCartney created this project to keep the band together
by making a movie that would tour(so they would not have to..
In the same way,the amalgam of Burroughs and Waits
based upon German Expressionism might signify brightness
or missed intentions.Fables with morals are pedantic at best.
If all you read is the headlines, astrology and comics
If you believe what is sold you-worlds of walls and wars
If you internalize what your parents repeated
You may need to scrape this rust and dust away
to find a bright well spring inside you
from which flows the REAL news-
HOW TO DANCE IN A HURRICANE
HOW TO BE YOUR OWN GOVERNMENT
HOW TO CO-CREATE A WORLD OF WEALTH 4 ALL
Then, you may find, you have become your own wisdom
And all your Ancestors will be asking YOU questions...

Meow Meow steals the show from a diverse – or disparate – cast, but the cult fable resonates regardless

GATHERING
WHAT WE HAVE IN COMMON
are the times we played together
like a band or an orchestra of common intentions
like a demonstration or OCCUPY
like meeting because we respected each other
like this is always the bottom line-
to love and to respect each other.
In the Great Chain of Being
We all know each other
with One Degree of Separation
We are the ones we call
when we need someone at all
consonant with our optimistic viewpoint
This is you i am talking to
We will meet in a dedicated space
A Sanctuary for Free Speech
where you can say what you believe
and i can listen, watch, wait and witness

to see where we are... in consonance.
