Singer/songwriter Kate Westbrook, composer/pianist Mike Westbrook and saxophonist Chris Biscoe are currently celebrating the Trio’s 30th anniversary with European touring and a new album ‘three into wonderfull” (album of the month in Jazz Magazine).
The Trio is the longest established and most widely travelled of all Mike Westbrook’s ensembles. From the early ‘80s Kate. Mike and Chris have continued to perform regularly throughout Europe as well as touring in Canada, Australia and the Far East. The groups geographical and musical adventures are commemorated in their previous album L’ascenseur/the Lift. “Three into Wonderfull” presents a cross section of the Trio’s recorded work over three decades and includes hitherto unreleased tracks and new recording.

Release date 29th October 2012

‘three into wonderfull’ digitally re-mastered by Jon Hiseman, presents a cross section of the Westbrook Trio’s recordings over three decades. The selection includes original songs by Kate and Mike Westbrook, settings of European poetry, and jazz standards. There are highlights from two early albums, A Little Westbrook Music and Love For Sale, tracks previously unavailable on CD. There are tracks from the more recent Good Friday 1663 and from L’Ascenseur/The Lift, as well as new recording.
At the heart of the album is previously un–released material from the mid 90’s, which includes some of the Trio’s finest performances on record, notably a remarkable 16 minute version of their classic Traurig aber falsch (Sad but untrue).

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
