...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.

Gonzo Weekly #301-2

Gonzo Weekly #301-2
THE PEACE AND LOVE ISSUE

In another fantastically fab issue, Richard meets Ringo Starr and goes into Therapy, Jon examines the autobiography of Cosey from Throbbing Gristle, John goes analogue, Doug goes to see Erasure, and Chris and Graham independently mention Eric Clapton, Alan gets the blues from Toby Mottershead, Raz goes to see Yes feat. ARW, Graham muses on Hawkwind and Arthur Brown, and Jon gets all apocalyptic and then releases an album.
#Hail Eris!

And there are radio shows from Strange Fruit, Mack Maloney, AND Friday Night Progressive, AND there are columns from all sorts of folk including Kev Rowlands, Neil Nixon, C J Stone, AND Roy Weard and the irrepressible Corinna AND Mr Biffo are back on board.  There is also a collection of more news, reviews, views, interviews and red kangaroos who've lost their shoes (OK, nothing to do with the largest extant macropods who are in a quandry with regards their footwear, but I got carried away with things that rhymed with OOOOS) than you can shake a stick at. THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?

THE DEPARTMENT OF MEANING IS EMPTY
Like Iraqi Department of Antiquities upon invasion
Like refugee camps outnumbering local populations
Like rivers on fire and beached whales. We may be dolphins or sharks.Or the fish they both eat.
Sharks need a better P R Agency.Dolphins just sex and swim and smile. We seek Meaning
even when emptiness is not enough, and context justifies nihilism/totalitarianism/dictatorships.
Even Popes can be wrong.Presidents in error. We make mistakes.
Evolution is still a Theory(like Gravity)that can be negated by circumstances.
Dreams are a doorway and a window to another world.Half our life asleep!

When we wake up-which is the Real dream?A-The one we believe in..

ATTITUDE ADJUSTMENT
WHEN NOT BURIED IN FACEBOOK, OR YOUTUBE
or emailing future dream visits to present time folk
i derail myself.Stop.Meditate.Read THE DIVINE COMEDY
(i went to Dante's home in Florence.,but he was not there..)
i LIKE the idea of PARADISE and share it (like Milton
i like William Blake and all his pastel angels
i like the way the past is set in small print, while headlines BLARE
i like to change garments-from grump to gratitude.ODE TO JOY
i know the past is a foundation upon which we forget
i like to go back to see how the building stands
Translations give me Russian,Italian,Spanish dreams
And mystical Hafiz,Kabir and Rumi(via Shams
who never wrote anything.Just like Jesus.Just like Socrates.
When my attitude changes,i give respect to my ancestors
and embrace the river of this present moment.Swim,surf,drown-
what happened before will never happen again.I have been wrong before

and will probably be wrong again..Time for another change..in latitudes..
