...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.

THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

WE,THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES
Have no quarrel with the people of Iran
nor civilians in China(whom we will not fight)
nor the good people of Mexico,Honduras,Guatemala
who come as refugees to our borders
and petition their presence in our (stolen)space.
In our name, forward bases are set up in forty countries
Embassies routinely spy on allies.Sanctions are imposed
that cripple economies.Military cultures kill civilians.
We wish to know more of your history(so we do not have to repeat
as we did in Afghanistan, who has withstood invasions English,Russian,American..etc)
We would like to respect your cultures-your music  and poetry(O Cuba!O Russia! Why punish your poets?
And,if a Marshall Plan can be marshaled-to improve your economy
so that we do not waste trillions via our Pentagon-but build gardens of goodwill and gladness.
Of course, you see what we did to our Indigenous Cultures. You remember slavery.
Reparations are called for.Memory is required. We will not be prisoners of our pasts.
Future calls us all-to meet human beings with humility and humanity
So we can all live in harmony -as We,The People.

Neil Nixon, the founder and presenter of the show has released a book about rare albums for Gonzo Multimedia.

The show is broadcast on Miskin Radio every Sunday from 10-00-midnight.

AS SOON AS YOU WRITE
(unless you choose to be Emily
you are compared and connected to every living writer.
Sometimes(rarely)-compared to and with the Ancient Ones-
those whose aphorisms and wisdom distilled their times(and ours
So it is that writers recognize each other-first via art/next via life itself.
Connections are made of time and loyalty-you review each other's works,
praise others so more might read their writings. And you listen to the learned-
those you admire and respect. This Community of Letters may not be an Academy-
more a Positive Praising Peer Group that affirms and supports the very art itself.
Later this may mean the support of Grants and Foundations.Mostly not.
Poets and Writers rarely have long life spans-but they get to define our tastes-by announcing theirs
Thus we read what they have read, and liked, and found worthy of re-reading.
Thus writing survives, against all the tyrannies of our times
Despite censorship,exile,slander,libel,defamation and death,
what you write now /may live longer than all your critical reviewers..
LIKE and SHARE are just the beginning .WRITE and SHARE another...

THE STRANGEFOLK ISSUE
http://www.gonzoweekly.com/

America Celebrates Their Hits With A New Deluxe Version Of "Live At The Palladium"

http://www.jpsmusicblog.com/2019/06/america-celebrates-their-hits-with-new.html

For 50 years, the British-American rock band, America have been entertaining audiences with such classic hits as "Tin Man," "Sister Goldenhair" and "Horse With No Name." In 2018, they recorded their concert at The Palladium in Worcester, MA for their latest release titled simply "Live At The Palladium." It showcases the band celebrating their anniversary by performing over twenty of the their most well-known songs like "You Can Do Magic" and "Daisy Jane."

The set is released as a double CD and DVD with a replica tour pass, 24-page full color booklet along with a numbered and signed certificate. America still sound amazing as they harmonize during the beautiful ballad "I Need You" and the California soft rock sound of "Ventura Highway." They can also still rock with the best of them, as displayed in "Cornwall Hollywood" and "Green House." America's strength still lies in the emotional harmonies of songs like "Only In Your Heart" and "Lonely People."

America has a bunch of live shows lined-up all throughout the summer. For a complete list of concert dates and to find out more about their latest release "Live At The Palladium," please visit venturahighway.com

ON HAVING ENOUGH SOCKS
ONE SOCK IS NEVER ENOUGH
Two socks is a pair(soon to be divorced
Three socks is a threesome(someone always misses out)
Four socks is two pair(beaten by three of a kind
Five socks is a pentagon of pleasures
Six socks  a jazz sextet.Seven a Heaven of choices
Eight socks an octopus.Nine a drawer full of choices
Ten socks argue like a Catholic family.Someone's always out.
Eleven?Odd number again. To find that solo sock is an infuriating proposition..
Especially when it has no equivalent among its alleged mates.
Twelve socks a solid foundation.Stable as disciples.

But then again-one of them was Judas!
