"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"
IT MAY BE LIKE SELLING TACO MARIA'S
Another local Austin cultural treasure looking like a people's art gallery
Shattered glass art on the front door and walls
Every night like HOLE IN THE WALL full of cultural divergence
Yet few wander in,and even fewer buy anything
which may be why Taco Maria's does not open at night
and why she has food vans close at hand..
Dozen St has been a haven for poets and musicians for some time
Open mics keep alive these celebratory traditions,
and eclectic acts bless and consecrate this secular space constantly..
But taxes in Austin are impossibly high
As THREADGILL's owner said-"You can't pay taxes with chicken fried steak"
And poetry, music, and art are all thin Buddhas.
