THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

TAXONOMY OF DATA IS NOT ENOUGH
Compounding of profiles is not enough
Simple repetitive jobs will be replaced by apps and bots
We are always on the lip of a new song
Whether it be a GUARANTEED INCOME for the dispossessed
or a social network which is also a safety net
Change is compounding as many simple tasks are subsumed by A.I
Next-more complicated data integration and application
Your "professional "classes will follow factory workers in being displaced
Either they will adapt to other skill areas as yet not affected by A.I
or they will be part of a Buddhist meditative lifestyle
blessed by bliss ,without the rigor of repetitive work patterns..
A "leisure society"is an emergent reality.Even indigenous only hunted 4 hours daily.
The rest is dance and dream, song and story sharing.(Our world as an open mic..
wherein one's life becomes the subject of memoir, performance, dance, film,,art etc
Modes of creative response are many.Application depends upon support and encouragement.
Just as the Kerouac philosophy was adopted by computer geeks
with snacks and sweets in the chill out office,so too the Covid TIME OUT times
allowed folk to experiment with their out of office work lifestyle. Some will never go back.
A.I is here.Genies never go back in bottles.Best to exploit our creative impulses
now that we have shorter working weeks, expanded fringe benefits, and benevolent bosses..
Industrial Revolution as in Saltaire Yorkshire had worker cottages and stable support networks
A "family model"was applied ,with positive results. Our age will see violent sudden changes.
Dislocation will occur.Soft landings are needed.Oligarchies are poor sharing models.
Here is where your creativity can be engaged-to adapt to changed economies
and still find ways to engage people meaningfully.UTOPIA always starts-with a U..

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
