THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?

EXPANDING THE PERSONAL PRONOUN

MANY SLAM PIECES BEGIN WITH "I"..

Only now it includes transgender fluidity,trigger warnings/

every niche and clan and club and race and style -with no limits..

"I"is now inclusive as "We,The People".Declarative and emphatic.

Eye on the street (shootings),on Marches,Resistances,OCCUPY,

Standing Rock,Nightclub shootings,with every voice included..

Not just the voice of gun,law,power and punishment.

Doors open to birds of every color.They roost in language and sing.

Sometimes they are angry,and shout louder-so we can hear (and act),softer

Lives on every line are carried with respect for Struggle and Ancestors/

for the unresolved tension that demands attention as much as blood and bandaged wounds.

All who walked streets seek voice.Demand Respect.Seek Solidarity

via poetry,chant,rant,chorus/refrain,polemic and petition to Common Consciousness.

New ears attune to new voices moaning ,keening,swimming in cultures

never before heard,with presence on these Front Lines.Inclusive venues umbrella young,old and all in between..

The future is here,now.We just need to listen,deeper.New sounds are rising from We/The People

And we will never be simply "I"again..
