THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?

THE DAYS OF ZOOS&CIRCUSES ARE OVER

Elephants retired from Barnum &Bailey

"Tame"animals released back into the "wild"

where the feral stand a better chance of survival

than rocking back and forth in cages

or tearing our their feathers on chained posts.

We are releasing ourselves,too-bison sans barbed wire,

wolf into wilderness-all that was chained and beaten

now given wings of freedom.Great Eagle can fly free-

both as symbol and reality.Yellow-throated warblers in our Hill Country.

Hunting seasons now for culling of feral hogs,

or for fur from foxes.Slaughterhouses now selective.

There will be no Soylent Green.Until the next severe drought.

Until the next siege.
