Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:
"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"
FLASHBACKS
BEAUTY OF LONGEVITY?
Long Distance Visions .They visit with intensities and clarity.
As if they are in this present moment.Beds you slept in.
People you knew. They are gone.Parts of you are, too.
Even though the door is locked, you can still see through
As they are frozen Polaroids in a sepia Temple.Yet-they move!
I was sharing about seeing the young Bee Gees
at the Myer Shopping Center in Chermside. It was just after
they had arrived in Australia from Manchester. There was still bush and trees and birds.
Magpies swooped down to take my young blonde hair for their nests. All remembrance is selective.
Bee Gees will never be as young and harmonic and pimpled as they were at 14 ,15 and 16.
I can only remember them as i experienced their youth.Later,i would hitch the Hippy Trail
to join my drummer friend Colin(Smiley)Peterson. He drummed for them(@APPLE,in London)
Never got there. Our paths never crossed again.Only now, when i hear SPICKS &SPECKS,I STARTED A JOKE
and all the harmonies of happiness that endeared me to the possibilities of shared pleasures.
How much remembered? How much hyperbole?Dreams still return/Clear as this Moment's shining.
Why deny them?
