Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:
"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"
IF WE HAVE FORGOTTEN WE WERE BIRDS
OUR WINGS ICARUS CLIPPED,OUR FLIGHT FALTERED
Perhaps we number among those birds missing,en masse
who avoid the guards of migration, who have no number nor name
only generics.Until the precious also fell-golden and glorious
The ones Emperors owned to prove their powers
Whether we were flesh or feathered, chick or elder
We strut and puff and forget why we use metal to fly
Why we ,diseased,need distance.Bird consciousness
means more than words.Wings are real, and must be used.
Those clipped vestigials(shoulder blades)were once Angelic Powers
Somewhere ,deep,we remember this-when news brings in of the missing
Those birds washed up on foreign shores, their tiny wings broken
Somewhere, parts of all of us-are missing.
