THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

OUTSIDE US/ MUCH MADNESS

Inside a soup of commingled emotions

It is like love"Well-will i stay or will i go?"

And the dominatrix husband and the beaten wife

Aged insecure with no safety net.Rich happy to squat as is 

For Palaces need no rent ,and bed tax for impoverished.

Ambivalence.Are we in love with Europa?Will we stay with her?

She has problems.We may lose our Independence..Unresolved this relationship..

What Benefit to pretend the 21st Century communications links never happened?

Will we be French riots or Belgium terrorized?What if love fails?

Divorced,we would still share the airspace ,and waterways are tiny in a shrinking world.

Before a decision is made,a decision is made emotionally.Do you love?or do you fear/ her?

Europa wants to know her status.You left before.And that meant wars.Two of them.

If you go back to isolation,who knows what will happen?Certainly no pop star nor politician..

As for poets?W H Auden supposed"Poetry ..makes nothing happen.."
