THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes: 

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

On the day Britain is deciding whether to be in or out of the European Union, it seems a cat is making similar decisions...

i have  a cat

(who owns a cat?

she is a rescued cat

(she is her own cat!

and that is that -BUT

she likes to go out

then come back in

and then go out again

just like that /she an IN door/OUT door cat

if i make a cat door-other cats claw their way in

she lets in possums.she lets in raccoons

she does not know just what to do

she figures they need rescue too

so she is easy on admissions

we get emptied food bowls-and we KNOW it is not our kitten

that cat is a jazz cat-she licks and purrs and scratches and claws

she sometimes comes back the worse for so she sleeps-up high or on the floor

in boxes ,on newspapers,bed-anywhere we rest our head

you see our jazz cat is alive and well

and she still has nine tales to tell
