"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"
AUTHOR,RUNNING IN THE FIELD
You are not your fictional characters
Though they may express issues you identify with
Young,I loved both the book and film of THE SPY WHO CAME IN FROM THE COLD
The despair of spies caught between powers, with no protection
and betrayal on all sides, was thrilling knowledge for the times of my growing.
Movies and TV mini-series were also illuminating-TINKER,TAILOR,SOLDIER,SPY
and THE RUSSIA HOUSE exceptional works.I loved THE LOOKING GLASS WAR and THE LITTLE DRUMMER GIRL
as well as A SMALL TOWN IN GERMANY and THE CONSTANT GARDENER.Perhaps it was the post-War age i grew up in..
I related to his moral conundrums and existential angst.Much as Ian Fleming used his spy knowledge for James Bond,
David Cornwell applied his time with MI6 to deal with issues still unresolved-
how does little Britain deal with Russia/America and all other allies/enemies..Post-war worlds still linger
in the spy services fictionally portrayed by Fleming and le Carre. And I love both his books
'and the many cinematic adaptations.@87,still productive. But he cares less for Boris and Brexit
than he does for Britain.Which leaves his fictional endings..unresolved..
