THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! SLAVERY HAS LONG TRADITIONS

Not just the plundering of ships-

from the Barbary Coast to Somali pirates

Not just white slavery ,tribal slavery,

auctions in slave markets.Tribute payments

were made up to the First Barbary War.

Captivity narratives in the seventeenth century

preceded those tales told of white colonists

captured &enslaved by Native Americans.

Sea pirates raided seaside settlements in Spain,Italy,

France,Eng;land and the Netherlands,enslaving 

men,women and children.African tribes enslaved other tribes,

or sold them to white slavers.Bristol ,England,was a slave port.

Many Americans were captured by Barbary Pirates and sold 

as slaves in markets in North Africa and the Ottoman empire.

The booty of wars was always slavery.Today-sex slavery.

Until economic inequality is addressed,brothels and white slavery

will continue .And,while you are there-abolish all wars
