"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not

WHY I SPEAK

Stone does not need to speak

It is stone.Has always been stone.Will always be so

Even when split,crushed,pulverized-stone knows its own.

Water ,too,may have a memory-but does not need to speak

It may murmur,giggle,slap and slop around in dips and drops

but all water is not the same-yellow,black,brown,gray waters abound.Clear is rare.

According to the Law of Conversation of Matter-water is ancient,and continues

even as it changes state from rain to ice to snow to sleet.Same amount/different states of being.

But still(or running)does not need to speak.Water before and after us-in relation

with earth,air,fire and stone.We change their nature and their names.

They know who they are,even with our labels -in bottles,products,the dust of Empires..

Yes,when we went from papyrus to Rosetta Stone,we relied upon language to explain

Now-with Mac,PC and Linux/Unix-we subscribe to digital codes.

Now that you text and tweet,you do not need to speak.

So i do.
