THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" (The wondrous poetpic is by Jack McCabe, who I hope forgives me for scribbling all over it with Photoshop)

BONES FROM THE HOUSE OF POETRY
BETWEEN
Potential &Kinetic/Singing&Speech/Tolled Bells Hover
There is a pulse (Within)/that sings (even in silence)
Between potential and kinetic/movement &stillness..

MY EYES HAVE SEEN (white sheets on lines
Stretched ,pegged(interrogatory).Now,bent with wet
Only on a dry day/would sun's Light/get fresh answers..

ROAD DOES NOT GO EVER ON(Nor Toll.Nor Free. Not even(not now..
This Rest Stop is (k)not.Plop!Long road trains stop.Stretch like a yawn/until pills/Coffeed Up!/Cups..
The End is never near(until it is..

NOW WE TALK ABOUT DANCE(but do not dance
Hearts get harder when they stop.Motion is only between stillness
"Getting There"only on the way. When you stop, you get deep enough-to dive deeper.

ANOTHER SONG COMES BACK(to say it was "yesterday"
Tomorrow has another tune.Perhaps Sun,.Perhaps Moon.
Dog Days.Cat Nights.Mice moments=Co-existence in time/spaced/continua..

FRANK ZAPPA: The secret word

"Thanks for coming, what's the secret word for tonight

The idea of The Secret Word For Tonight intended that at the start of a concert that word was mentioned – either by Frank Zappa or perhaps by the audience – and could appear at every moment throughout the show, being a special challenge for the group and fun for the audiences.

Many of the band had worked with Frank for quite a while, which resulted in a lot more relaxed, free-form attitude on stage. This led to lots of "secret word" shenanigans, with band members routinely changing the lyrics to (somewhat tired) tunes to make the other band members have fun.

Originally New York,artist and populist
set up Monkey Ranch studios
with a poet living in a cupboard
and a home built bottle house close at hand
"They have offered him millions for this land"
"You see those building cranes next door?Their way of overshadowing"
"But he loves art and artists and provides a space for them"
"Even when taxes make rents rise,he keeps it possible..."

They are singular stories and spin creativity outside Austin City Limits
Today they return to sell art to New Austin-but we older/poorer  turn up

For one day,Austin is habitable again.Then-back to Elgin..

Gordon Giltrap is a true guitar ‘legend’ who, at the age of 18 secured his first record deal, has recorded over 25 albums and has worked with many famous names including Mike Oldfield, Brian May, Midge Ure and Cliff Richard.

PROVENANCE&PRICE TAGS
Art may be everywhere-but the markets move
that which is labelled and proven to be true.
Take Banksy-a public artist in Bristol
Few have ever seen him(apart from his Merry Prankster crew)
So selling his work relies upon proving his unsigned murals are his
and then-how did ownership transfer from PUBLIC to PRIVATE?
Anonymous artists tag  and graffiti walls, trains, buildings, cars
Others make Christo Public sculptures or CARHENGE statements

Creation is a different concept to the selling of clouds.

Mars Tapes: Polish review (translated)

Peter Banks Empire - The Mars Tapes

Author: Artur Chachlowski
02/27/2015.

This album is a sign of some sort of sentiment. Sentiment we have for meritorious and rock artists already absent (Peter Banks died in 2013).

As you know, Peter Banks is one of the members of the first composition of the group Yes. After the departure of the legendary band worked in different projects.Among other things, played in teams Blodwyn Pig, Harmony In Diversity, Flash and the Empire. The latter was a joint venture between Banks and vocalist, then his wife, Sydney Foxx (real name: Sidonie Jordan). In the 70s appeared three albums branded as Empire. Now, years later, after the death of the artist, shows the fourth - "The Mars Tapes". It contains a record of the trials and videos "work in progress", which took place in 1979 in the famous Mars Studios in Los Angeles. Nearly 100 minutes of music, which is found on issued by Gonzo Multimedia album, the songs of all levels of production. Some of them are finished products, some of this demo, and some of this is just the musical sketches and initial fitting. Some of them are instrumentals, part sung by Sydney Foxx. But in all hear immense talent as a composer and executive Peter.

This remarkable album is one of the manifestations of the esteem in which Peter Banks for many years enjoyed in the world of rock music. There is also a posthumous tribute to his work. Never before made public unreleased music, which undoubtedly still await many supporters of his work.

With the chronicler's duty even remember the names of musicians accompanying then Banksowi in the recording studio. Played bass guitar John Giblin and Brad Stephenson, Paul Delph synthesizers and Jakob Magnusson, tabla - Sam Gobal, and on drums and Mark Murdock ... Phil Collins, who at the time worked with Peter Banks in another project called jazzrockowym Zok And The Radar Boys.

A RIVER IS LIKE THAT
GREAT RIVERS ARE GREAT LOVERS
Ask those in houseboats on the Seine
like inundations of the Nile/literacy Tigris-Euphrates
We grow to love our inland waters.Mississippi riverboats
Mark Twain.Spoon River Anthology.Yet rivers change
like habitation and commerce.Boats float then are junked like books.
Become floating casinos/Museums/Ghost Relics. We all have them-
places Sacred to our Growing. Were we to return,it would be owned
by different folk with different stories.Thames.Ganges.Murray.Murrumbidgee.
Every time we dip into waters of memories,we sink into a past mud no one else knows.
Scrape it off your tourist shoes. It follows you home/demands to be fed.
So you write it down and serve it up-to new ghosts
who have not heard this one yet..

Peggy’s bass to raise tidy sum for hospice

Peggy and the Tracey Bullard signature bass NNL-150316-113940001
A one-off, signature bass guitar autographed by folk and rock icons such as Robert Plant, Ralph McTell, Steve Ashley and Danny Thompson is being auctioned for charity.

The acoustic bass was was made for Dave ‘Peggy’ Pegg of Fairport Convention and can be seen in action in the band’s most recent YouTube video of their new song, John Condon.

After the death from cancer of his former pub landlady, Tracey Bullard, Peggy decided to put the guitar – now decorated with many folk and rock stars’ autographs – up on Ebay to raise money for Katharine House Hospice, where Tracey was cared for in her final days.
Peggy said: “It’s been renamed the Tracey Bullard Signature Bass after a lovely lady called Tracey Bullard who lived in Barford St Michael and used to run our pub up the road, The George . She sadly died last year and spent her last week in the wonderful Katharine House Hospice.

THE GONZO TRACK OF THE DAY: Gayatri Mantra - 108 Times by Suresh Wadkar

Being Sunday I always post sacred music. The name of the deity may change, or even the deity Him/Herself but the spirit remains the same.
...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
