Kev Rowland's Progressive Underground Vol. 1 : A book that will be quickly referred to as “a bible”

In issue #499 of the august tome which is Record Collector, Daryl Easlea had this to say about the first volume of The Progressive Underground:

"A book that will be quickly referred to as “a bible”

The Progressive Underground, obviously produced with a deep and palpable love for its subject by Kev Rowland, is for everyone who remained with prog rock long after the 1976 watershed, when most people deserted the often maligned (yet much loved by those who know) genre. It’s essential for those who want to find out about what happened next.

Taken from the Rock SIG fanzine (brought to you by the brains of Mensa, no less) it’s, at times, a heavy read, but if you’ve ever wondered what those countless Hawkwind live albums sound like, Kev Rowland’s done it for you here in great and loving detail. There are groups called Black Jester, Credo and Freewill; and in the main Rowland writes about them passionately enough to send you off to an online shop or streaming device: the river of constant change perhaps?"

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
