Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:
"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"
FOR THE LOVE OF CHARLES DICKENS
i went to his home in London
which has been made into a Museum
Sat in his writing chair
Looked at the illustrations of his work
One that showed the spirits of his characters
as they appeared to him in dreams
He used to walk out on the streets of London
to see the real world as it was then
That is why his characters seem alive even now
That is why his writing still resonates.
For London has changed-the crime,the fog,the pollution,the weather
Yet Dickens captures the nuances of every character
So we see their universal humanity
And read between the covers
while falling asleep under the covers...
