"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"
WEEKEND.AFTER WORK.WE WERE WILD
So he suggested tidal fishing....I had never been
so we went in his Jeep -to the tidal estuary of Mallacoota.
Very early morning light.Down to the morning tides.Waves washed.
We stood within.Threw our lines in.Waited.This was still night.
Lights on the water were stars and moonlight.Sounds of the waves reassured.Zen dreaming...
WHAT!My line tugged tight.I was in shock.Something was biting my lure..
Hold.Reel.Release-then tighten.As i had been told.I followed.
But this creature did not follow the rules. She did not want to be caught.
Her nightclub ocean dance was involving and complex.Depths.
I held on ,repeating the process-release.Tighten.Ad infinitum.
Time was a frozen wave.Crush of sand .Sounds of estuary morning.Reel her in.
She,still shaking like a disco queen.Large.ALIVE!Fighting the hook between.
I looked into her wild eyes. She gleamed.I grabbed her body and released me ...
