Members of Fleet Foxes, Beach House, Grizzly Bear and Fairport Convention have announced a tour in celebration of a little-known solo album by the Byrds' Gene Clark.
The project was spearheaded by Beach House's Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally, who described themselves as "infatuated" with Clark's 1974 LP No Other. They have plumbed the Baltimore music scene for a ten-person band and chorus, corralling members of Lower Dens, Wye Oak and Celebration, as well as four guest vocalists: Fleet Foxes' Robin Pecknold, Grizzly Bear's Daniel Rossen, Hamilton Leithauser from thepossibly defunct Walkmen, and Englishman Iain Matthews, best known for his work in Fairport Convention and Plainsong.
So far, the makeshift group has announced just four concerts: Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington and New York, all at the end of January. At each gig, the musicians will cover No Other "from start to finish", as well as showing a new edit of the Gene Clark documentary The Byrd Who Flew Alone..

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
