14-11-2021 – SHOW 436 – Saint Etienne vs Low

 

Strange Fruit is a unique two-hour radio show exploring the world of underground, strange and generally neglected music. All shows are themed and all shows set out to give the most hardened of sound-hounds some new delight to sample.

The show is also unique in providing homework for undergraduate students on North West Kent College’s Foundation Degree in Professional Writing (who dig up many of the odd facts featured in the links between tracks).

Neil Nixon, the founder and presenter of the show has released a book about rare albums for Gonzo Multimedia.

The show is broadcast on Miskin Radio every Sunday from 10-00-midnight.

What is in this week? 120 pages of Jon ranting about how the modern world is an obscene joke, Prince Andrew, Blade, Steve Wallace, Jon Downes (who?), Rebecca Radical, Time, The Vulgar Tongue show, The Beatles, the Gardening Club, and oodles more.

And there are radio shows from Mack Maloney and Friday Night Progressive, AND Merrell Fankhauser, Mr Biffo, Puls8 Radio, and the Real Music Club, AND Strange Fruit, there is a column from Kev Rowland, and C.J Stone but Mr Biffo, and Neil Nixon, are on hiatus. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

ONCE PAXTON,ABBOTT and PATRICK   ARE GONE

Once those Confederate Statues are stored in Museums

Once police personally pay for any violence committed

then Texas will come into the sunshine

Once oil,gas,fracking state and Federal subsidies cease

Once country hospitals,schools,Internet are supported

Once Medicare and Medicaid are expanded

Texas will be worthy of her pioneers

Once racism is dealt with via community service

Once sexism is fined out of existence

Once ageism is negated via professional elder care  

Texas will walk proudly into the 21st Century

Of course-we need renewable energies supplies

Of course,repair and restoration of wilderness areas

And parks,gardens,recreation centers need to expand

New Texas is awaiting the call...Old Texas can learn new lessons,.y'all!
