You might have seen Michael Des Barres as Murdoc on the hit show MacGuyver or perhaps as a guest star on Seinfeld, Ellen, Roseanne, Melrose Place, Frasier, Bones or NCIS (and countless others).
You might have heard the song “Obsession,” co-written by Des Barres and Holly Knight. The Animotion version rose to #6 on the Billboard Top 40 chart in 1985.
You might have seen Des Barres fronting Power Station during the band’s set at Live Aid.
Here is Michael Des Barres’ First Concert.

0-1What was the first concert you ever attended? How old were you?
Jimi Hendrix at The Marquee club in London. I was seventeen or eighteen. I was in drama school with Mitch Mitchell. He asked me if I wanted to see this new band. He had a black bloke who played left-handed. I haven’t come back to earth since that night.
What do you remember about the performance?
Seeing this skinny, beautiful gypsy fuck his amp and lick the audience while playing psychedelic blues on a wah wah pedal changed my DNA.

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
