"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth, Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" (The wondrous poetpic is by Jack McCabe, who I hope forgives me for scribbling all over it with Photoshop)
NOW THE BUSES OF BRISTOL ARE BIG
ONE WONDERS HOW THEY CAN FIT IN
between
parked cars down thin one way streets
with
a clamor of honking geese cars biting@their heels
Is
it because the drivers of buses in Bristol are poets?or Polish?
imported
to deal with a smallness that big is unused to?
For
the buses of Bristol are bursting with students
who
otherwise would be bicycles in thin alleyways
puffing up hills
and down dales -or walking to get where they will
For
the buses of Bristol are regular and reliable
They
are my preferred form of transport when visiting
When
will Austin ever think small enough to admit
of
other successful models?For example-
EXPRESSBUS(a
long bus)steals spaces from parked cars
and
bike lanes are needed (separate from cars-
There
needs to be streets where pedestrians and cycles have priority
as
in sweet Amsterdam.Capitol Metro !I know you are not listening!
Light
rail a boondoggle. We need small regular reliable buses
to
continuously adapt /along with bike streets and safe pedestrian
zones.
