THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not? why not indeed!!" DEATH BECOMES HER

ALWAYS,EVER,BEFORE,DURING&AFTER

Flora & fauna have high toxicities-it's a bloody wonder we make it to 18!

Snakes and spiders and sharks,crocodiles,cane toads,cassowaries

can bite,attack,wound,poison ,strike and kill

You do not need to go Outback!Cities and suburbs provide habitat

Each year-another surfer bitten by sharks

Every so often,a tourist attacked by crocodile

Far too often-snakebites,ant bites,tick bites and sores,wounds and lesions

caused by indefinite miniature creatures reclaiming their traditional hunting grounds

We have few land animals larger  than humans-Big Reds and Cassowaries

Yet,we are an island-surrounded by waters,in which live

poisonous jellyfish,cruising sharks,stingrays,many varieties of crocodiles

hungry enough to not see us as competition.Older than us-this desert in blue waters

Longer than our little lifetimes,with poisonous powers stronger than our antidotes

We are in deed "The Lucky Country!"Crikey! These politicians!
