YES: HEAVEN & EARTH

The release of a new Yes album by any standard is a major event for any progressive rock fan who remembers the late 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and the 00s. Hard to believe but Yes have been going through all of those decades, through the Vietnam War, through Watergate, through Punk, the new wave of heavy metal, The Falklands War, Funk and Hip Hop, despite all of this, or maybe because of it they still continue to thrive with albums and tours, albeit with various line up changes, but this is typical of many bands of the same ilk.

Their reasoning must be the same as Status Quo, AC/DC, Deep Purple that if the Rolling Stones are still going, then why not us. The new offering has brought us another new lead singer to replace Benoit David, who replaced Jon Anderson, now I am not one of those Yes fans who believe`s that the group is not Yes unless Anderson is taking the lead, many bands over the years have had their changes and have still continued to have major success. Anyone who has listened to “Run with the Fox” by Alan White and Chris Squire will know exactly what I mean, that Yes is not Jon Anderson and Jon Anderson was not Yes.

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
