THOSE WE HAVE LOST: Joe Cocker (1944-2014)

COCKER
MAD DOG / ENGLISHMAN!
Gas fitter from Sheffield generic
Rock singer of others' songs-unique!
His passionate interpretations cannot be imitated
He defined "With a Little Help From My Friends"
as a one man emotional opera. His tour
with MAD DOGS&ENGLISHMEN  defined his persona
even more than his appearance @WOODSTOCK.
Young may know him more as 80's collaborative crooner
UP WHERE WE BELONG  had that voice (rough, raw, ragged)
coupled with Jennifer Warnes's mellowness.
25 albums later,70 cycles round one sun,he left us.
We replay his uniqueness when we want to remember
our world adolescence/his emotional performances/

how even passion must end.

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
