THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Tom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. 

It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied with in seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?" 

HE HAD BEEN A MARINE IN VIETNAM

DID 6 MONTHS COUNTER-INTELLIGENCE

Turning South Vietnamese into spies ,informers,infiltrators

When the war was concluding,General Giap sent a THANK YOU letter

which tended to leave him with a cynical Trump twist

in despair at honesty in politics ,war and personal loss.

The remains of his long gray hair reveal a past hippydom

He enjoys our peace vs war conversations

but says he is for "mischief,mayhem and no survivors"

I applaud his mischief -making but retort"we are ALL survivors"

Every one taking breath today is very lucky to be incarnate

Rusted cynicism and negative defeatism are luxuries we cannot afford

Naive idealism now morphs into a conditional trust

that we may be here tomorrow/even knowing

some may not...
