THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! I NOW SLEEP WITH A MACHINE

THIS MACHINE MONITORS MY BREATHING

Which(for lack of effective practice)-i have been failing

To learn,i plugged in to a sleep study/learned levels

and how monitoring rates of oxygen allows deeper dreaming.

Since this is what i want,i dive in/plug in/turn and switch ON!

and the 2017 of 1967 controls and modulates these basic functions.

I would not know my dreams if not for this machine

Phone calls cut me out of the cloud.I resist.

Sleep is now a job-a duty /to be monitored and weighed

to test the REM against the rest.Doctor knows

I am not the only one-like worldwide diabetes

this will soon be an elder care question-

how much breath can we squander

before the last one?
