THOM THE WORLD POET: The Daily Poem

Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:

"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"

LIP SERVICE TO FRONT LINE WORKERS
Clap their extra work.Slap them on the back
but still-inadequate PPE.Still,no pay rise.
Words are small change.Income speaks volumes.
When your life is in the hands of those exhausted
and you persist in being maskless,as if some principle were involved-
Do not ask who will walk that extra mile/who will clean up after you
When risk assessment is not subject to measurement
And wisdom says"You are responsible,too.."
I have a friend who volunteered /when Covid hit New York,he went
He stayed while Covid raged, then went-to other hot spots
where the need was always more than he could give.
He did a Sweat Lodge before he went.Made peace with Ancestors.Focused
And was protected by more than PPE and affirmations. He lives!
While other nurses and doctors give their all,and meet a wall of resistance
to sane and safe health preventive measures.LOVE YOUR HEALTH CARE WORKERS!
but give them rest and succor,too-an income commensurate with risk-for who
will care for you-when health care workers have compassion fatigue, too?

...BECAUSE SOME OF US THINK THAT THIS STUFF IS IMPORTANT
What happens when you mix what is - arguably - the world's most interesting record company, with an anarchist manic-depressive rock music historian polymath, and a method of dissemination which means that a daily rock-music magazine can be almost instantaneous?

Most of this blog is related in some way to the music, books and films produced by Gonzo Multimedia, but the editor has a grasshopper mind and so also writes about all sorts of cultural issues which interest him, and which he hopes will interest you as well.
