Rob Ayling, yer Gonzo Grande Fromage, writes:
"Thom the World poet is an old mate of mine from way back in my history. Even pre-dating Voiceprint, when I was running "Otter Songs" and Thom's poetry tapes and guest appearances with Daevid Allen, Gilli Smyth and Mother Gong are well known and highly regarded. It just felt right to include a daily poem from Thom on our Gonzo blog and when I approached him to do so, he replied within seconds!!! Thom is a great talent and just wants to spread poetry, light and positive energy across the globe. If we at Gonzo can help him do that - why not?"
IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN
EDITH PIAF SANG "NO REGRETS"
All the burning cities of your scorched earth pasts
Smoke and mirrors.Sleight of hand. You can not go back.
Gilding the lily to cast a tinted picture of your pasts
Lovers friends broken bruised beaten links/Relationships
Sing the same song ..Endless refrain on.."If only..Once Upon a Time..
You can re-visit your Past, but it is a Temporary Occupation.Visa expires.
You may love what has already happened, but if you return-it changes..
You cannot break the chains.Your mojo slow. What do you know?
But if you stay (today),within the shelter of this present moment
Then you can see(with perspective)-how to last past Eternities
That there is an artificial construct like Regret.Life is what happens before death..
And if there is something like a defect,we have not got there yet. What is,survives..
So let the past unplug its amp.Let open mics allow us out
We know the picture, the movie, each particular scene
Endlessly singing refrains of how IT MIGHT HAVE BEEN...
